WHAT IS FASTING?
21 Days of Fasting & Prayer I January 10–30, 2026
Each year, our church sets aside time to pause, refocus, and seek the Lord together. From January 10–30, we invite the entire New Life Covenant family to participate in 21 Days of Fasting and Prayer—a season dedicated to pursuing God’s presence, aligning our hearts with His will, and seeking His direction for the year ahead.
Throughout the Bible, believers fasted for three reasons:
1. To become more aware of God’s presence
2. To confirm God’s will and anointing
3. To hear a word from God in a time of need
Matthew 6:16-18 says:
When you fast, do not look somber as the hypocrites do, for they disfigure their faces to show men they are fasting. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward. But when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face, so that it will not be obvious to others that you are fasting, but only to your Father who is unseen; and your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.
Fasting is the act of sacrificing food to focus our lives on God. It is not so much about following a set of specific rules but about dedicating time to seek the Lord and focusing on our relationship with Him.
This is more than just a fast; it’s an invitation to reset our hearts, renew our faith, and lean into the heart of God as we step into a new year together.
Fasting Schedule
We will be fasting in unity as a church, with a different focus each week:
Week 1: Daniel Fast
Week 2: Partial Fast (6:00 AM–6:00 PM or one meal per day)
Week 3: No Meats / No Sweets
We encourage everyone to participate at a level that is prayerfully appropriate for you as you seek the Lord.
