Reverend Wilfredo "Choco" De Jesús is Senior Pastor of New Life Covenant Church (NLC), one of the fastest growing churches in Chicago. He is endearingly known as Pastor "Choco." Since he became Senior Pastor in 2000, NLC has grown from a weekly attendance of 120 to 17,000 globally through church campuses, plants, and more than 110 ministries reaching the most disenfranchised – the broken hearted, poor, homeless, prostitutes, drug addicts, and gang members.
Pastor Choco resides in the Humboldt Park community of Chicago, with his wife Elizabeth; they have three adult children: Alexandria, Yesenia and Wilfredo, Jr. They have also welcomed their first granddaughter, Charlie Grace Gomez.
New Life Covenant, formerly known as Palestine Christian Temple, was founded by Rev. Ignacio Marrero and a small group of brothers and sisters in May 1965. Rev. Marrero and others met in their homes and within a few weeks, they left their homes and established a church by renting a storefront in order to meet the needs of the community. In 1976, after much growth, they purchased a permanent location in the heart of Humboldt Park, Chicago. In July 2000, the pastoral torch was passed to Rev. Wilfredo De Jesús, better known as Pastor Choco. He has led the church to tremendous growth even from humble beginnings. As part of that new chapter, the church adopted a new name, New Life Covenant, which is the name that now identifies the church.
